What to Wear for Fall Family Photos

It is that time again – leaves are changing colors, the weather is becoming much more pleasant every day, and big Holidays are just around the corner.

What better way to get into the spirit of the season than some Fall Family Photos?

Whether you have a small or big family, Fall Family Photo sessions are a great way to capture lovely family memories and will be greatly cherished for years to come. Fall photos are also commonly used for Christmas cards so the timing of Fall photo sessions is typically perfect to make sure you get a head start for Christmas.

I know – it might be daunting to even think about coordinating outfits, getting the kids together and hoping they make it through the session without a meltdown, etc.

The list of possible mishaps is endless, but I can assure you that with proper planning and a great photographer, your session should be a success and you’ll be able to soon add those beautiful photos to your collection of framed memories.

What to Wear

Fall is synonymous with earthy, warm colors like rust, deep greens, browns, and rich reds.

Neutrals like beige, cream, and gray can be used as a foundation to balance the warm autumn colors – Consider incorporating these neutral shades in your family’s outfits to achieve a timeless and elegant look.

Coordinating colors within the family’s clothing can add an element of unity to the photos. However, avoid being too matchy-matchy. Instead, aim for a combination of colors that work well together.

Consider the Setting

Consider the setting of where your photoshoot will take place. You’ll want to choose slightly contrasting colors so that you don’t completely blend in with your surroundings.

For example, in an indoor setting where the walls are white, you won’t want to choose mainly white colors for your outfits as this can make you seem washed out.

In conclusion, the fall season offers a magnificent backdrop for family photos, and choosing the right clothing colors can elevate the beauty of your pictures.

By embracing earthy tones, neutrals, and coordinating colors, your family can capture the essence of autumn and create timeless memories together.
