This post is about Houston family activities: Guide to Froberg’s Farm in Alvin, TX.
Our family recently took a trip to the farm to pick delicious strawberries and we had the greatest time!
In this guide you’ll find all you need to know before heading to the farm!
Froberg’s Farm is a family-owned and operated farm located in Alvin, Texas (about 45 mins south of Houston).
The farm has been around for over 85 years and has become a staple in the local community.
Froberg’s farm is known for its fresh produce, homemade pies, and fun family activities.
History of Froberg’s Farm
Froberg’s Farm sits on 22 acres and originally only grew strawberries and eventually expanded to vegetables and even pies.
The business has grown considerably over the past 70 years, so a big store was built by the family which opened April 12, 2003.
In 2006, Froberg’s started letting the public pick strawberries, which has become the farm’s biggest attraction and only gets more popular each year.
Produce & Market
One of the main attractions at Froberg’s Farm is the fresh produce. The farm grows a variety of fruits and vegetables throughout the year. Some of the most popular items include strawberries, blackberries, peas, and onions.
The farm also has a large selection of seasonal produce such as pumpkins in the fall and Christmas trees in the winter.
The produce is picked fresh daily and sold in the farm’s market where you can find a wide selection of other produce.
The market is open year-round and sells fresh produce, homemade pies, jams, jellies, cookies, preserves, pralines, pecan brittle, peanut brittle, nuts, candies, kettle and caramel corn – the bakery is a must see.
The pies at Froberg’s Farm are made using old family recipes and are a customer favorite.
Activities and Attractions
Froberg’s Farm is not just a place to buy fresh produce and homemade pies -the farm also has a variety of activities for the whole family. During the fall, the farm hosts a pumpkin patch, corn maze, and hayrides.
In the spring, visitors can pick their own strawberries and enjoy the beautiful blooms in the fields.
The farm also hosts special events throughout the year such as Easter egg hunts and Christmas tree lighting ceremonies.
We visited during Spring on a Sunday and after picking strawberries and blackberries, we made our way to enjoy some food and drinks from local vendors on the farm. We enjoyed delicious hot dogs by KC’s Dawgs Catering and fresh brewed latte’s by Meraki Coffee.
Admission Costs
There is an entrance fee of $3 per person (ages 2+). If you plan to pick fresh produce on the fields, buckets are available for purchase at $2 a bucket.
