This post is all about must have products to achieve the coveted natural makeup look.
Like all things, makeup trends come and go and while the full glam look holds a good place in my heart, the makeup world has seen a transition to embracing the natural “fresh” makeup look.
While there exist an infinite amount of makeup combinations to help you achieve the “fresh face” look, I’ve narrowed it down to the best makeup products for a natural, glowy look.
Primer
With thousands of great reviews, The Original Smashbox Photo Finish Primer is a crowd favorite! I have combination skin and find that this primer is best at keeping the shine at bay and reduces the appearance of enlarged pores for a smooth, matte finish.
A pea-sized amount is all you need and the velvet texture helps the product glide smoothly onto the skin. I like focus on areas with larger pores that need the extra “blurring”.
Foundation
Luminous Silk Foundation by Giorgio Armani is one of the most popular medium coverage foundations on the market and is available in 40 different shades. This foundation is perfect for summer because it is lightweight with medium coverage and has an airbrush-like finish.
It is my holy grail, and I can go hours wearing this foundation without it caking or smudging off. If you are looking for a foundation to invest in, I can’t recommend this one enough!
Concealer
Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer has been a recent add to my summer makeup routine. I’ve been a faithful user of the Shape Tape concealer, but as a few months ago, I began seeing noticeable creasing along the eye area.
Perhaps I was using more product than needed but I’ve found that the Nars Radiant Concealer is much more lightweight and looks quite natural with minimum application. It doesn’t crease around the drier areas (i.e. the eye area).
Bronzer
I first purchased the Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Bronzer about 6 years ago when I first started implementing bronzer into my makeup routine. I remember loving it so much and recently purchased it again – and honestly, I don’t remember why I ever stopped using this stuff!
It is infused with real cocoa and smells soo good, enough to eat (pls don’t). I love that it has a soft, matte finish, looks very natural, and is buildable to achieve your desired look.
Blush
Blush can make the greatest difference in complexion, especially to achieve an effortless rosy sun kissed glow for Summer.
The Gen Nude Blonzer by BareMinerals is a hybrid blush/bronzer that contains light-reflecting pears to help smooth the appearance of imperfections. I prefer to use as a blush alone and add bronzer separately for greater depth.
Brows
For natural brows, the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Wiz pencil works wonderfully to clean up the brows. The “ultra-fine” pencil is smudge-proof and allows for precise detailing and spot-filling for natural-looking brows.
A great dupe that’ll save you some bucks is the NYX Professional Makeup Micro Brow Pencil!
Setting Spray
Set your look with the NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray This setting spray works just as great or even better than some of the more expensive sprays out on the market. It is perfect for oily/combination skins while not completely opaquing the skin’s natural glow.
Lips
The Tarte Maracuja Vegan Juicy Lip is an all-in-1 vegan balm, gloss color, and treatment and comes in variety of natural tints (my favorite is Orchid). It leaves your lips extremely moisturized (never sticky) and plump looking.
Key ingredients include maracuja oil, grapeseed oil, goji, acai, and much more good stuff to naturally moisturize and treat the lips.
These are the products I use for my everyday makeup, and I hope my recommendations are helpful for you to achieve your “fresh face”.
